Turning Point Craft Initiative

Shetland, Scotland

Turning Point Craft Initiative is a registered Scottish Charity, seeking in Christ's name to offer counselling and practical skills to enable individuals to regain and retain a quality of life lost through alcohol and/or drug misuse.

Working in partnership with local agencies, we run a day centre where each individual receives counselling and learns basic woodworking and woodturning skills.

We major on woodturning; this is a craft that can be learned comparatively quickly giving the clients a sense of achievement in a very short time.
Our aim is to help people with addiction problems build a better and more independent life.

Turning Point Craft Initiative was awarded the Faithworks Spring Harvest Community Innovation Award 2004
