It outlines the benefits and barriers to partnership working and concludes with a set of recommendations for those seeking to be a more effective demonstration of the Church in the local community.
Two core themes emerge as a challenge for all those engaged in Christian community work.
Firstly, there is a need for churches and individual Christians to be prepared for a ‘paradigm shift’ in thinking about expressions of local church. There is a need to view ‘church’ in terms of ‘church in a locality’ as opposed to a series of individual congregations/organisations.
The challenge is also for local Christians to commit to long-term ‘informed intercession’ in which Christians from different congregations meet regularly to pray for specific and current issues and concerns in their immediate community.
