From campaign to movement

As the door of opportunity opened for local churches to place themselves at the heart of their community and provide solutions to the breadth of people’s needs,  the Faithworks campaign highlighted the need for churches and Christian organisations to be better equipped to serve their communities in a distinctly Christian way.

With the aim of plugging this gap, the Faithworks Campaign became the Faithworks Movement in early 2002.

As well as building on the success of the original campaign, the Faithworks Movement aimed to provide inspiration and resources to help local churches develop their role at the heart of the local community and make the most of the opportunities available to them.

Faithworks was also set up as a direct challenge to the negative media coverage that so often engulfs the Church.  It was time for local churches to tell different stories - stories of hope and of faith transforming lives and communities.
