Derwent Day Centre is based at Tonbridge Baptist Church providing an invaluable day care service for older vulnerable people living in the local community.

It has been running for about 18 months and during this time has built up to capacity of 20 clients each Wednesday and Thursday. The project is staffed by volunteers showing Christian care in action.

The day centre operates in close co-operation with Kent County Council Social Services. A senior manager from that department has described the day centre as ‘making a real difference to the lives of a significant number of vulnerable people and is a shining example of working in the community at its most effective and best’.
