Best Practice Guide

Implementing the Faithworks Charter

When churches and Christian projects sign the Faithworks Charter they commit to being professional, inclusive and to valuing individuals as they work within their communities.

The Faithworks Charter translates Christian motivation for serving people and communities into language that agencies and people who are not Christian can recognise and relate to, thus building trust.

To equip churches and projects to practically implement the Charter, Faithworks has developed its Best Practice Guide.  This inspirational and practical manual demonstrates how the values of professionalism, inclusion and valuing others flow naturally from the Christian faith.

The guide has three chapters under which the charter is explored

  1. Inclusive Service in the Community
  2. Valuing all Individuals
  3. Management and Outcomes

The 15 standards which make up the Charter include commitments to

  • Serve and respect all people regardless of their gender, marital status, race, ethnic origin, religion, age, sexual orientation or physical and mental capability.
  • Create an environment where clients, volunteers and employees are encouraged and enabled to realise their potential.
  • Do all that can be done to ensure that we are not over-dependent on any one source of funding.

The guide explores each of the 15 standards, chapter by chapter, from both a biblical and a practical viewpoint.  Each of the 15 chapters contains a worksheet with examples and questions designed to help you think about and act upon the implications of the standard as well as providing further sources of advice and information.

The Faithworks Best Practice Guide: Implementing the Faithworks Charter will prove invaluable to any church or organisation seeking to demonstrate professionalism and engender trust as they serve within their community.

The Faithworks Best Practice Guide is available to order in paper format by mail order for £10.00 or electronically by email for £4.00.  To purchase the guides online please go to the Faithworks Resource order form.

Affiliates can download the guides free of charge by clicking here.

Please note that this price exists to cover our production costs. We would ask that churches refrain, where possible, from photocopying and distributing on a large scale these materials.
