To give voice to faith based organisations, the third sector and community activists
To encourage and inspire political engagement
To give creative and innovative input to government on a variety of policy areas
Activities:
A programme of seminars, forums, do tanks, lectures and conferences exploring current policy issues with Government Ministers, opposition spokespeople and community activists.
Our Values:
Charities Parliament is based on the following five values:
We believe that the democratic process should be focused around participation as much as representation. Democracy begins with conversation.
We believe that every local church has a vital role to play in public life, civil society and the maintenance of a healthy democracy.
We believe that a key task of government in a healthy society is to provide investment, support and infrastructure for the Voluntary Sector, including the church and other faith groups, as it works to build social cohesion and active communities.
We believe that the development of a sense of mutual accountability between churches, Christian agencies and faith groups working in the delivery of public services and Government is an essential ingredient of a healthy society.
We believe that the voice of local churches and other faith groups is strongest when they work in collaboration. If you have an idea for Charities Parliament Event please contact us on rsvp@charitiesparliament.org.uk
Government think tanks are notorious for being full of high level thinkers but are often thin on the ground when it comes to practitioners. Charities Parliament "Do tanks" seek to challenge government with new ideas from practitioners who have seen innovation work from the bottom up. Click here to find out more
