Faithworks Awards

Faithworks Awards Program will not be open to applications in 2010

We are in the process of re-evaluating the Faithworks Awards program to ensure that it is the most effective means of supporting the work of churches, charities and faith-based projects.

The revamped program should be relaunched in 2011, so keep watching this space.

Faithworks Awards 2009

Awards 17 Christian community projects were honoured at the Faithworks Awards ceremony at the House Of Commons on 8 June 2009. The event, hosted by the Rt Hon Alun Michael MP with keynote speaker Rt Hon Stephen Timms MP , was an inspiring celebration of the committed and tireless work of Christian projects serving communities around the UK.

Sponsored by Spurgeon's Network, Anthony Collins Solicitors, Oasis UK and Kingdom Bank, the 2008/9 awards programme had 3 categories.  The recipient project in each category received £5,000, an attractive award and well deserved public recognition. Shortlisted projects in each catagory will be awarded between £100-£500, donated by Kingdom Bank.

The criteria and recipeints of each of the three awards were as follows:

The Community Excellence Award: Adult Health and Social Care sponsored by Anthony Collins Solicitors

Sponsored by Anthony Collins Solicitors, this award recognises Christian-motivated community projects seeking to enrich the lives of adults with physical, learning or sensory disabilities, dementia or mental health difficulties.  Recent changes in legislation affecting people who are unable to make decisions for themselves have pushed mental capacity issues up the Government’s agenda.  In turn this has heightened public awareness and interest in the scope for such people to be allowed to set their own agendas and design the outcomes which they need from their services.

This award is for local community projects, motivated by a Christian faith, which are:

  • highly professional in their approach to caring for and safeguarding adults;
  • raising standards of excellence in identifying outcomes as a driver for service provision;
  • ensuring service users are cared for with dignity and are supported in their independence;
  • demonstrating a collaborative approach to service delivery

The recipient of The Community Excellence Award: Adult Health and Social Care 2009/10 was:
MRBC Parish Nursing
and the commended project was the
St Margaret's

The Improving the Lives of Children and Young People Award sponsored by Spurgeons Network

Sponsored by Spurgeons Network, this award seeks to recognise the vital work of projects motivated by the Christian faith that are positively impacting the lives of disadvantaged children and young people by:

  • improving outcomes for disadvantaged children and young people in their local community;
  • a professional approach to caring for and safeguarding children and young people;
  • effectively involving children and young people in the running and development of the project.

The recipient of the Improving the lives of Children and Young People Award 2009/10 was:
Farsley Youth Development Project
and the commended project was the

The Community Inclusion Award sponsored by Oasis UK

Sponsored by Oasis UK, this award seeks to recognise projects that promote inclusion and challenge injustice within a local urban context.

This award is for projects, motivated by a Christian faith, that:

  • actively work in partnership to promote inclusion and challenge injustice;
  • demonstrate a joined up approach to service delivery;
  • are rooted in an urban community.
