Faithworks Magazine will feature comment and advice from practitioners in community engagement, as well as reviews of useful resources and relevant news. It will tell stories of hope and transformation honestly, that range from detached youth work to work with the isolated elderly; from serving asylum seekers to providing hope to those with life-controlling addictions.
This new magazine is produced by an exciting partnership between the Faithworks Movement and magazine publishers CCP. 40,000 copies of the sample issue will be printed this summer and copies will be sent free to members of the Faithworks Movement, with 33,000 copies of the second issue distributed later this year, and made available to delegates at the Faithworks Conference this November.
The Faithworks Movement has a membership of over 20,000 individuals, churches and organisations who are motivated by their faith in Jesus Christ to serve the needs of the local communities and positively influence society as a whole. Faithworks seeks to inspire and equip individual Christians and churches to develop their role and involvement in their local community, to change the public perception of church by engaging with both government and media, and to encourage unity and partnership to meet the needs of local communities. The Movement includes those of a wide range of denominational backgrounds amongst its membership. CCP publish Christianity, Youthwork and Christian Marketplace magazines.
Malcolm Duncan, Leader of the Faithworks Movement, said: “It is vital to share best practice in Christian community development work and show examples of how this is working on the ground. I am excited by the potential of Faithworks Magazine, and really hope that it will become a leading publication that inspires and equips Christians up and down the country to engage with and serve their local communities.”
Editor of the magazine, Lucinda van der Hart, added: “Faith-based community service works, and this new magazine will highlight best practice with the aim that the quantity and quality will grown even more.”
The magazine will be available from Christian bookshops and events, and online. The cover price from Issue 2 onwards will be £3, and annual subscriptions to this new quarterly will cost only £1.
