Cornerstone Church in Swansea runs a development project called The Gap working with young people who are struggling academically and socially. The Gate Arts Centre is a centre open to anyone in the community who would like to develop their artistic gifts. Alongside the arts centre in Cardiff, courses also run in schools, a prison and for those at risk from long term unemployment.  The Gate was featured in Stories of Hope and 100 Proven Ways to Transform Your Community by Steve Chalke. Newport North West Credit Union started in 1997 on the Bettws Estate. Its beginnings emanated from the concern of local Christians over the activities of loan sharks on the estate. A group from three local Churches organised a series of open meetings, following which the project was launched.
