Over the last few years, the psychotherapeutic world has become increasingly interested in spirituality. At St Marylebone Healing and Counselling Centre we try to create a space for reflection on the crosscurrents within and between therapeutic and religious (particularly Christian) understandings. The course will provide an extended opportunity to engage in this process of reflection.
Who are the leaders? Chris MacKenna, Director of St Marylebone Healing and Counselling Centre, and members of the Centre’s team of psychotherapists.
Programme for each session:
2:15 – 2:30 Tea and coffee
2:30 – 3:30 Free association to a Gospel passage
3:30 – 4:30 Small Group activity and discussion
4:30 – 4:45 Tea
4:45 – 5:30 Plenary
The Topics for the Small Group activities:
Session One will explore the religious and therapeutic associations evoked by the word ‘crosscurrents’. Themes for the following small groups will emerge, session by session, at the previous plenary session; and participants will be invited to bring something illustrative of that theme to the following small group meeting.
Throughout, we will hope to keep the discussion earthed in participants’ experience, both personal and professional. The style of the meetings will be participative and experiential.
The cost: £150, payable in advance. Places will be restricted to 24 participants.
