In October 2003, the Home Office launched a funding website in an attempt to make it easier for voluntary groups to apply for government funding. Visit www.governmentfunding.org.uk - the site has an online application facility for some grants.
Response to the Comprehensive Spending Review
As part of the 2006 Budget, the Chancellor announced that HM Treasury would undertake a review into the future role of the third sector in social and economic regeneration in England. The Comprehensive Spending Review is the biggest ever consultation of the third sector and on 22nd September 2006, Faithworks hosted a meeting for Christian leaders and Faithworks Members to ensure that their voice was heard within the consultation.
From this consultation, Faithworks made several recommendations including the conclusion that a bigger and wider debate is required to focus on the relationship between the changing discourse and the financial instruments that enable a flourishing third sector. This debate should explore how the right of faith groups to their identity can be matched by their commitment to carry out their responsibilities to promote and maintain community cohesion.
