Since launching in 2001, Faithworks has consistently campaigned and lobbied political decision-makers over the issues that affect Christian groups involved in social action.
These issues include the following:
1. Employment legislation
How does the existing employment law affect the recruitment policies of faith-based organisations? Does new employment legislation change the how faith-based community work is conducted?
2. Funding for faith groups
Do faith-based organisations have equal access to government and statutory funding? Are these groups discriminated against because of their faith basis? How should faith-based community projects represent themselves to potential funders?
3. Calling for a recognised Faith Standard
How can the suspicion that exists in the public domain around the role of faith-based organisations be overcome? How can organisations with a faith motivation genuinely realise equal opportunity to access public funding?
4. Involvement in decision-making
How can churches have a greater say in government policies that affect their communities? What opportunities are there for churches to become involved in local decision-making?
