2Day Community Microportals

Chippenham, Wiltshire

Richard and Julia Searight started their project to create a new generation of community websites from their home in Wiltshire in 2002. These so-called ‘parish magazines of the future’ provide all the internet needs of the whole community – churchgoers and non-churchgoers - simply and within three clicks.

Starting with their home parish of Lacock there are now 60 parish sites on their books - plus sites for schools, professional associations and forces communities. Their vision is to extend the system country-wide so that wherever you go you know that you will find a simple, accessible website which works the same way as your one at home. All are grounded on Christian principles.

Quick to set up and maintain, 2Day Gateways can attach to existing sites or stand alone. With their local, national and international information they are useful for the whole community and can be copied and used by local clubs and societies. Benefits to the church come from advertising revenue and from greater awareness of church activities.
